Reading Rifle & Revolver Club, Inc.
INDOOR RANGE RULES
The purpose of these regulations is to ensure maximum safety conditions for all shooters. All guns when not in use must be cased or have the action open and be unloaded (except law enforcement officers on duty.)
SAFETY IS FIRST, LAST, and ALWAYS the NUMBER ONE RULE!
- The LOG BOOK will be signed by the shooter (and guest) stating name(s), membership badge number, day and date, time of arrival, type of gun used, and time of departure.
- TARGETS: An effort will be made to keep a supply of targets on hand available to club members at the cost of .25 cents per small paper target and .50 cents for large and silhouette targets.
Shooting at target carriers, numbers, lights, bottles, cans, etc. is prohibited and is cause for immediate expulsion from membership. Minimum target distance is 21 feet. Member must be sure to hang their targets so that all rounds impact in the backstop.
- All uncased guns must have actions open except when on the firing line ready to fire. No loading until ready to fire. While on the firing line, all guns must be pointed down range. Shooting from firing line down range only. No firing across lanes.
- No handling of guns if anyone is down range. Before going down range from the firing line, the shooter must ask, “Is the line clear?’ He must receive and affirmative reply from everyone on the line and see all other persons standing at least three feet behind the firing line before going forward. While anyone is down range, all other people must remain at least three feet behind the firing line and no guns may be handled in any way.
- Plinking, quick draw practice, and hip shooting is forbidden.
- Safety glasses and ear protection are required.
- Upon completion of firing, each shooter must police their shooting area for brass and trash. It’s your range… keep it clean.
- Rifles and Pistols may be loaded with a maximum of 10 rounds. All shooting must be done in a controlled manner. This means ALL of your shots are hitting your target and impacting safely.
- AMMUNITION: Rifles – .22 long rifle only. No rifles firing .22WMR or .17WMR. NO pistol caliber carbines. Muzzle velocity must be below 1600fps.
- Pistols- No magnums, lead loads preferred.
- JUNIORS: Junior shooters must have an adult member present and supervising or be in a junior program.
- GUESTS: Members may have one guest per month. Guests must shoot with the sponsoring member – they may not shoot alone. Guests must sign the LOG BOOK. Guest shooting may be restricted if the range capacity is insufficient for shooting members.
- RIFLE and PISTOL: Keep finger off trigger until sights are lined up on the target. Pistol and revolver shooters bring the gun to the target from the bench up, NOT from the ceiling down. It saves both the ceiling and your membership. Inexperienced shooters use the center of the range, not the firing points next to the walls.
- All shots must impact in the backstop area. Shooters who deliberately damage club property will forfeit their membership.
Anyone observing violations of range and safety rules should report the incident, the name of the offender, badge number, and/or car license plate number to a member of the Executive Committee.
